In the hitting section, Shoji concentrates on approach, arm swing and elevation to develop timing. He breaks down the mechanics of the arm swing and footwork of the approach and demonstrates drills to complement both areas. Shoji puts the arm swing and approach together to show the cross-court shot, the seam shot and the down the line shot. More advanced back row attacks are also discussed and demonstrated on the left, right and middle of the floor and four quick attack patterns designed to put pressure on the blockers are shown.
